2016: The year AKA and Cassper finally made peace

Like the saying goes, practice makes perfect, and this year, after several hit-and-misses Cassper and AKA finally made peace.
They were once the fiercest of rivals. But as 2015 drew to a close, both Cassper and AKA looked to have been done with the explosive beef that saw them trade diss tracks and nearly blows.
And, despite one or two hiccups, the pair finally made up in 2016.
Here’s a look at their relationship this year.
January – AKA had a small dig at Cassper after US rapper Mos Def was detained in South Africa and releases a version of Kanye West’s No More Parties in LA song called No More Parties in SA. AKA takes to Twitter to suggest that SA call “Mr Pony” to speak on behalf of SA hip-hop – Mr Pony was widely seen as a nickname for Cassper Nyovest.
April – The pair’s feud made its way on to screens in the form of a parody on SABC 1’s comedy show Ses’Top La.
April/May- Cassper told Slikour in an interview in November that the pair sat and met in private to discuss and bury their beef only weeks before the BET Awards in America.
May– In the midst of ongoing protests at University campuses across the country, AKA took to Twitter to ask if it now looked stupid to stand on burning books – in reference to a scene in Cassper’s War Ready music video where he stands on a pile of burning books.
“So uhm … Does it look stupid to stand on a pile of burning books NOW … Or? …. Not yet?” he tweeted.
June – Cassper later revealed that the pair were in LA during June, drinking and talking nonsense together.
Also, Cassper told Jacaranda FM, in an interview in June, that his feud caused him distress and lack of sleep.
“In the beginning it used to mess me up. I remember when my feud with my previous enemy was really hectic and at its peak. I remember having sleepless nights. I was still in a relationship then and so I used to talk to my girl and I couldn’t sleep because it got to me that much,” he said.
Cassper said that the negative energy at the time started to affect him and so he decided to rather keep quiet.
July – AKA sat down with US radio host Sway Calloway to discuss his beef with Cassper. He admitted that he and Cassper resolved their long standing beef after they were forced to sit together on a flight to an event, but that there was still some hostility between them.
August – The pair united to urge people to vote – and revealed that they would both vote for the ANC in the municipal elections.
September – AKA poked fun at Cassper’s typo mistake by tweeting that his pop up store is “nice with the spell check”.
October– Finally a public show of unity. AKA went up to Cassper’s table after Cassper performed at Orlando Stadium to congratulate his rival and the pair share a hug. Fans then call for the pair to fill up FNB Stadium together.
